Energy Efficient Furnaces in Alberta

8 March 2010 No Comment

As of December 31, 2009 all new furnaces must be energy efficient and have a annual fuel utilization efficiency (AUFE) rating of 92 to 97 per cent.  The Alberta government is offering rebates to homeowners who upgrade to an Energy Star-qualified furnace that has a DC variable-speed motor and an energy efficient rating of at least 92 per cent.  Climate Change Central administers the rebate program.  (Calgary Herald article, 06.03.10)
